Bluebeam for Mobile Update: What You Need to Know

As Bluebeam continues to modernize its platform and invest in cloud-first solutions, many users have been asking about the future of Bluebeam mobile workflows. Here’s an overview of what we know today and what you can expect in the future.

End of Life of legacy “Revu for iPad” app

Bluebeam has removed the legacy Revu for iPad app from the Apple app store. This shift leaves the new Bluebeam free mobile app as the central mobile solution for PDF markup, project collaboration, and field access.

While Bluebeam Mobile is advancing quickly, there remains a gap in functionality compared to the previous Revu for iPad app. Bluebeam has been transparent about its approach: they are not recreating Revu for iPad on mobile, nor delivering the full desktop Revu experience on a phone or tablet. Instead, the goal is to deliver reliable, streamlined access to the tools teams actually use in the office and the field, with a strong focus on stability, speed, and ease of use.

Current Capabilities in Bluebeam Mobile and Web

Understanding Bluebeam mobile capabilities requires looking at its three access points:

  1. Web (Desktop Browser)
  2. iOS App
  3. Android App

Bluebeam follows a development cycle of Web → iOS → Android, meaning new features roll out to the browser version first, followed by mobile devices. Below is a breakdown of what each platform can do today.

Web Features (Browser Access)

Users accessing Bluebeam Cloud via a desktop browser currently have the most complete feature set:

  • Full access to Studio Sessions & Studio Projects
  • Join via Studio ID
  • Set Status in a Studio Session
  • Create, insert, rotate and reorder PDF pages directly in My Documents and Studio Projects
  • Robust redlining tools: Text, Cloud, Pen, Highlight, Arrow, Callout, Image Insertion, Length Measurements, and Tool Chest support
  • Ability to edit markup properties including colors, fonts, and styles
  • Download files from Sessions or Projects
  • Send documents to DocuSign directly from Projects
  • Open local PDFs (not limited to Studio)
  • Natural language search capabilities in Projects
  • Integrations with OneDrive, Procore, and SharePoint

iOS Features

The iOS app offers strong markup and review functionality, though not yet at full parity with the Web version:

  • Access to Studio Sessions & Studio Projects
  • Redlining tools:Text, Cloud, Pen, Highlight, Arrow, Callout, Image Insertion, Rectangle, Ellipse
  • Edit properties of markups (colors, fonts, etc.)
  • Download files from Sessions or Projects
  • Open local PDFs
  • Fill out basic form fields directly in your PDF
  • Measurements – Length, Area, Polylength and Count
  • Join unrestricted Sessions or Projects by Studio ID
  • Open links directly in the mobile app
  • Access bookmarks in your PDF
  • Sort Projects and Sessions List
  • Search Sessions and Project names by keyword
  • Access recent files in the editor
  • Upload and delete Studio PDFs
  • User account hub
  • Faster markups status changes
  • Add / remove vertices from polylines and polylengths
  • Tools sets (BTX import)

Android Features

Android support is improving, but still the most limited of the three:

  • Access to Studio Sessions & Studio Projects
  • Redlining tools: Text, Pen, Highlight, Arrow, Rectangle, Cloud, Callout, Ellipse, Vector Pen, Cloud+, Polygon, Polyline
  • Edit locally stored PDFs
  • Offline Studio Projects
  • Markup rotation
  • Property editing
