Leveraging Revit models to assist with quantity takeoff [QTO] for project estimating
Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) had worked with us to transition to Revit and BIM workflows, and wanted to begin leveraging their Revit models to assist with quantity takeoff (QTO) for project estimating. COPT joked that they wanted a ‘magic button’ to complete what they needed done, and our team built a ‘magic button’ in Dynamo. With one-click it would ask the designer where they wanted their file to be placed and automatically generate the file with all the required data for the estimators. Through testing and working with COPT, we were able to assist with workflow changes, solve additional challenges and give the customer the ‘magic button’ they were looking for.
Custom On-Demand Training to Standardize User Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D
The civil engineering firm, McAdams Company, discovered that their users had many topics they wanted further instruction on and that there were different levels of knowledges among their users. They wanted to develop an internal training program that would allow them the flexibility to create Civil 3D and AutoCAD training and add their own content for internal processes, standards, and philosophies. Our team created 83 learning models for AutoCAD and Civil 3D including video walkthrough of the topic, a document outlining what was accomplished in the video and accompanying exercise files.
Revit Model Consulting
George Vaeth and Associates (GVA) had a contract with a customer to do a building model using Revit. The customer asked GVA to make significant modifications to the building within a tight timeframe. GVA reached out to us seeking assistance with making the modifications to ensure they would be completed by the deadline.
Connecting AutoCAD and Revit with Space Management
CADD and FM:Systems partnered to provide space management capabilities to a large federal government agency by implementing an FM:Systems’ Integrated Workplace Management Software (Space Management Module) solution. This government agency has more than 50,000 employees and 5 million square feet of real estate. CADD assisted with drawing and model preparations as well as the installation and setup of the modules. The FM:Interact solution is providing bi-directional integration with the organization’s AutoCAD drawings and Revit models, allowing the agency to support their space management goals with AutoCAD and Revit across the entire portfolio. Moving forward, every space is accountable, and the one centralized location makes it possible for facility professionals, department liaisons and executive management to have visibility into space and occupancy.
Implementation and Ongoing Training and Maintenance
CADD and FM:Systems partnered to consult for an independent agency of the federal government. FM:Systems provided the software technology consisting of the Integrated Workplace Management Software with the following modules: Space Management, Asset Management, Move Management and Real Estate. In the following years they have purchased Mobile, Space Reservation and Facility Maintenance. CADD ensured that the customer was successful by providing the CAD and implementation services, installation and deployment, and training. The CADD consulting team continues to provide ongoing assistance of these modules.
Drawing Scanning and HR Data Integration
CADD worked with a large biopharmaceutical company who had purchased FM:Interact and planned on implementing the Space Management, Move Management, and Strategic Planning modules. The CADD consulting team then worked with the team throughout the implementation and additional provided services including scanning of drawings, review and configuration of human resource data integration to increase efficiency.
