“Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes. I’m afraid it’s time for goodbye again.” – Billy Joel
It is hard to say goodbye because that means change which can be challenging. However, today I am going to talk about a positive change for Bluebeam customers that will improve the way that admins manage their Studio Sessions, Projects and Studio users.
Bluebeam is committed to improving your experience with integration and user management. Bluebeam will be releasing updates in 2025 that creates a centralize administration portal, allows integrations to use Single Sign On (SSO), and no longer requires Studio Prime to enable integration connections. As a result, Studio Prime as we know it today will reach the end of life on December 31, 2025.
The process for phasing out Studio Prime and introducing the new streamlined Studio Administration portal is a multi-phase approach.
This is the current Bluebeam Support Timeline:
After January 1, 2025 All new and renewal licenses of Studio Prime for user management features will be limited, ensuring the latest access up to December 31, 2025. We recommend renewing your Prime subscriptions unless otherwise instructed, as you’ll gain access to the new Studio users' administration portal automatically for the duration of your Prime subscription.
After June 30, 2025 Prime is no longer needed for integration. It will be connected through the Org Admin back end and inside the 3rd party software that you’re integrating with. You’ll continue to manage Studio users, Sessions and Projects all in the Studio Prime web portal.
Sometime in Q3 or Q4 2025 Bluebeam will release new Org Admin Portal updates that move Studio management features from Prime into the Org Admin Portal. These new updates will be at a per-user cost that should be similar to the Studio Prime pricing you’re currently paying. As a reminder, if you have Prime today, you’ll get free access to this new portal once it’s available through the remainder of your Prime subscription. You’ll renew under the new name and pricing at your next renewal.
December 31, 2025 Studio Prime will move to End-of-Life status, and admins and software integration partners will no longer be able to access Studio Prime. If you wish to have administrative control over your Studio users, Sessions and Projects, you’ll need the new admin tool.
Benefits of the new integration platform:
-
Integrations will now be connected through your third-party application that you’re integrating with. If you do not wish to have any administrative control over Studio, you can integrate without any additional cost.
-
After the Studio management features are built into the Org Admin portal, you will be able to manage all users in a single web portal
-
There will be no need to add Prime Members and wait for them to accept the invite. All licensed users (Core or Complete) will be able to start and stop Sessions and Projects through the integration
-
SSO will now be available for integration for companies with 50+ Revu licenses (we expect this threshold to be reduced sometime in 2025).
-
Unpaid Collaborators will still have the same free access with limited markups
Studio Prime EOL Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)
Is Studio going away? − No! Studio is not going away or changing at all. Bluebeam is just streamlining and upgrading the way you connect to Studio and manage your Sessions, Projects and Studio Users.
What do I need to do before June? − Make sure your users are fully using the Revu v21 software
What will happen to my user’s current Studio Sessions and Projects − Nothing! Your users will continue to access Studio as normal and will not see any changes in the way they work or their Sessions and Projects.
What do I need to do once the Org Admin upgrade is available? − Based on conversations with Bluebeam, the effort to move from managing Studio Users in the Studio Prime portal to Org Admin Plus will be very minimal or automated. If there are steps that admins will need to take, then we’ll provide you with a resource guide.
How much will the Org Admin upgrade cost? − We do not have the pricing from Bluebeam at this time, but it will be per-user-based licensing. − In most scenarios, your total cost of the upgrade will not exceed the cost of Studio Prime ($2,340 annually).
