Bluebeam® Revu® 20 is the most up-to-date version of Bluebeam. Our Bluebeam experts have listed some reasons why you should transition your licenses to the latest version and put together some helpful tips to help you upgrade your team.
Here are the reasons to transition your licenses to the latest version.
What’s New:- Faster rendering speed, and improved Revu’s startup performance.

- Plugin support for the latest versions of AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks – check out the Compatibility Chart.
- Studio enhancements:
- Studio users will now remain signed in until they choose to sign out.
- New user and content management capabilities for greater flexibility and control.
- Improved measurement tools:
- Ability to easily set scale across multiple drawings.
- Apply length units independently of page scale.
- For Open License users
- Revu now releases the seats of users who go inactive for 2 hours. For more information on how this works, check out the Revu Administration Guide.
Below are some best practices for upgrading and setting yourself up for license management success!
Am I eligible for a free upgrade? You're eligible for a free upgrade to the latest version of Revu if any of the following applies:
- Your license has active Maintenance.
- Your license was purchased within the past 30-days.
Ok, I have active Maintenance, now what:
It’s important to note that just because you renewed your maintenance, doesn’t mean you are on the current version. Bluebeam doesn’t force you to move versions right away and allows you to download the new v20 serial number and product key when you and your team are ready.
We will provide some additional steps below but here are the three main steps for moving to new versions:
- You’ll need a new version 20 serial number and product key to be generated.
- The older version should be un-registered from the computer.
- The new version gets installed on the user’s machine and registered with the new v20 license information.
What type of license do I have?
If your Serial Number starts in 96XXXXX, then you have Open Licenses.
Here are upgrade instructions for Open Licenses:
- Upgrades for Open Licenses can be accessed in the Gateway. Once you log in, you’ll automatically be issued a Product Key for the latest version.
- Revoke the old product Key from the computers through the Gateway. Direction for revoking computers can be found.
- Download the new Revu 20 install and register with your same serial number and new 20 Product Key.
If your Serial Number starts in 98XXXXX then you have Enterprise Licenses.
Upgrade instructions for Enterprise Licenses:
- You’ll need to generate the new serial number and product key for Revu 20.
- Everyone will not have to move up at once, but best practice is to move all users and deregister old within 30 days.
- Since you have enterprise, you can push out the version 20 install using a deployment package, (or each user can individually download the software).
- Then revoke the old serial number from the computers through the Gateway. Direction for revoking computers can be found here.
If you have any other Revu Serial Number, then you have Perpetual Licenses:
Upgrade instructions for Perpetual Licenses:
- You’ll need to generate the new serial number and product key for Revu 20.
- Unregister old installs the old software from the computer.
